Churchill Place
Built in 1998, the spectacular home of Phillip and Judy Berman
is their "Nantucket' style" dream home. This three-story
5200 square foot Smart House* is
highly computerized with state of the art amenities. Among the
many highlights of their traditional "shabby chic"
inspired interior, are a true gourmet kitchen, 00 year old eastern
pine flooring, custom cabinetry, antique chandeliers and lighting
throughout, a ballet room, cherry library and beautiful "fairy
tale" child's bedroom. Decorated by the Berman's, 1220
Churchill is one of Coronado's finest homes.
* TRADEMARK
809
Margarita Avenue
This gracious Monterey style home was built in 1936. Consisting
of approximately 3800 square feet, it has a center hall plan
with a warm living and dining area. The decor is a homey European
style. Off the Hall is a den, which the former and longtime
owners, Admiral and Mrs. (Jane) Winn called "the lumber
room". The kitchen was remodeled in the mid 1970's. The
pool and guest cottage were also later additions to the property.
The guest cottage exudes an old Hollywood, relaxed style.
The upstairs consists of two guest rooms, bath and master suite.
A walkway connects the main house with the garage apartment,
now used as an office. A courtyard connects these areas, behind
which is the lovely pool, cottage and garden area.
The Reverend Carol S. and Mr. Gary R. Smith purchased the home
in 1997 and they are the third owners. Since then, the home
has been redecorated and re-landscaped. They are enjoying the
"Coronado experience" as so many others have before
them.

E Avenue
The purchase of 1021 E Avenue in September of 1997 took place
swiftly and serendipitously, shortly after the Coronado Hotel
Jan Hatcher and Ira Wohl often visited from Los Angeles remodeled
and would no longer accept their terrier, Jake. All three are
firmly convinced that amongst all who bid on this house, they
were chosen by the then owner because they alone had the intention
of not tearing it down and replacing it with one of the more
modern-day dwellings, of late so much in evidence, on our beloved
Crown Isle.
On the Contrary, Hatcher and Wohl have spent the last two and
a half years lovingly - and often obsessively - restoring this
turn-of-the-century Victorian house, built by a member of the
team who put up the Hotel Del Coronado, to as much of its original
charm and grace as has been reasonable to do.
Jan and Ira are grateful to the Coronado School of the Arts
for holding this benefit and thereby providing them with a much
needed finishing deadline. By the way, if you happen to see
them about, please don't fail to remind them that there's a
beautiful beach and ocean not a hundred yards away.

Sixth Street
The antique filled home of Polly and Art Jones is one that many
islanders are familiar with as its lush colorful gardens often
receive the Coronado Flower Show's highest honors.
Built in 1912, this charming home was known as the Jackson-Stafford
house. Situated on an L-shaped parcel, the residence was remodeled
in 1990.
The original garage, built in 1940, was converted to a delightful
guest/garden cottage in 1993. The most recent remodel took place
in 1998, when a family room was added to the kitchen.
